How we compared the sites
We played every site on a phone and on a laptop and compared them on six points: the kinds of games on offer, what you can do for free, what the paid plan costs, which languages the site supports, whether you can play with friends, and whether there is something new to play every day.
Prices below come from each site’s own pricing pages and app store listings and were checked in October 2026. Prices change, so check the site before you subscribe. Trivillion is our own site; we have included it because it belongs in the comparison, and we have tried to describe the other sites fairly.

1. Trivillion: best all-round free quiz site
Trivillion is built around AI. It learns which games you play most and suggests new ones you are likely to enjoy, so the suggestions get better the more you play. It also has the most modern interface of the sites we compared and the widest variety of game types, with an especially large range of geography and sports games.
Trivillion puts three kinds of play in one place. There are five daily games that change every day, including a five-letter word puzzle and map games where you find a hidden country with distance hints. There is a library of 54 quizzes with more than 5,000 questions: 38 picture quizzes on flags, country shapes, landmarks, logos, dishes, paintings and famous people, and 16 general knowledge topics with over 2,000 questions. And there are party games such as White Lie and Imposter for groups of friends and family.
Everything is free, there is no paid plan, and you can play without signing up. Signing up keeps your scores and starts a daily streak. The whole site switches between English, Arabic, Spanish and French, including the right-to-left layout, which is rare among quiz sites. Topics such as Arabic poetry, Palestine, Islamic culture and Arab cinema sit alongside geography, football and films.
Trivillion is newer than the other sites here, so its library is far smaller than Sporcle’s or JetPunk’s, and it has no user-made quizzes. It is best for players who want a varied mix of games every day rather than a huge archive of niche lists.
- Pros: free with no paid tier, daily games, picture quizzes, AI game suggestions, widest variety, modern interface, full Arabic
- Cons: smaller library, no user-made quizzes
2. Sporcle: the biggest quiz library
Sporcle launched in 2007 and is built mostly by its community. It hosts more than two million user-made quizzes that have been played billions of times, on almost any subject you can think of. Quizzes come in about ten formats, including classic typing quizzes, clickable quizzes, maps, picture boxes, slideshows and multiple choice.
Most quizzes are free with ads. The paid plan, Sporcle Orange, removes ads and unlocks unlimited daily Sporcle games, archives and extra stats. It costs $3.99 a month after a seven-day free trial or $43.99 a year, and a family plan for up to four accounts costs $6.99 a month or $74.99 a year.
- Pros: enormous range of topics, many formats, active community
- Cons: quality varies between user-made quizzes, ads on the free plan, English-first
3. JetPunk: best for timed list quizzes
JetPunk is known for typing challenges against the clock, such as naming every country, every capital or every element. Its results pages show how your score compares with other players, which makes it addictive for anyone who likes to improve a little each time.
The site is free with ads. JetPunk Premium removes ads and adds quiz tags and analytics; it costs $12 for six months, $20 for a year or $40 for three years.
- Pros: clean, fast, excellent geography lists, cheap premium
- Cons: mostly typing quizzes, ads on the free plan
4. Seterra: best for studying maps
Seterra is a long-running map trainer where you click countries, capitals, rivers or regions on a map. GeoGuessr bought Seterra in 2022 and now runs it. All quizzes and printable maps on the website are free; a pro membership removes ads and lets you create challenges.
It is excellent for focused study, especially for students, but it is a training tool more than a game, with little variety beyond map clicking.
- Pros: free, very good for map memory, printables for teachers
- Cons: little variety, no party or daily games
5. GeoGuessr: best for guessing places from photos
GeoGuessr drops you somewhere in the world in street-level imagery and asks you to guess where you are. It is one of the most popular geography games online, but it is no longer free to play without limits: free unlimited play ended in February 2024, and the free plan is now one daily challenge of five locations.
Unlimited play needs a Pro subscription, listed at $3.99 a month billed yearly ($47.88 a year) or $6.99 month to month.
- Pros: unique game, huge community, competitive modes
- Cons: mostly paid, needs a good connection
6. Kahoot: best for hosting a quiz on a big screen
Kahoot is built for a host: a teacher, trainer or friend shows the questions on a big screen and players answer on their phones by entering a game PIN. Players never pay; the host does. The free plan allows up to 10 participants per game on personal accounts (40 for school teacher accounts).
Paid personal plans start at about $3 a month billed yearly for up to 50 players, rising to about $7 for 100, $12 for 200 and $19 for 800. For a classroom or office quiz it is the standard choice, but it is not designed for playing alone.
- Pros: easy to host, great for classes and events
- Cons: needs a host and a shared screen, small free player limit
7. Britannica quizzes: best for fact-checked trivia
The encyclopedia publisher offers short multiple-choice quizzes on history, science, geography and culture. They are free and carefully edited, which makes them a good choice when accuracy matters more than variety. There are no daily games, party modes or streaks.
Which quiz site should you choose?
Match the site to what you want to do:
| If you want… | Choose | Why |

What a year of ad-free play costs
If you play every day, a paid plan can be worth it. Here is what removing limits or ads costs for a year, based on prices checked in October 2026:
| Site | Cost per year | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Trivillion | $0 | Everything is already free |
| JetPunk Premium | $20 | No ads, tags, analytics |
| Kahoot!+ Bronze (personal) | About $36 | Host games for up to 50 players |
| Sporcle Orange | $43.99 | No ads, unlimited daily games, archives |
| GeoGuessr Pro Unlimited | $47.88 | Unlimited play in all modes |
How Trivillion picks games for you
Trivillion uses AI to learn what you enjoy. It looks at the games you play most, the topics you choose and how you score, then suggests new games and quizzes you are likely to like. Someone who plays a lot of flag quizzes might be offered country shapes or capitals next; a football fan might be offered player career games or sport trivia.
The more you play, the better the suggestions get, which means less time searching and more time playing.
How to get the most from any quiz site
Quizzes help memory most when you try to recall an answer before you see it, so typing or choosing an answer beats reading a list. Play the same topic for a week before moving on, read the right answer after every miss, and come back the next day to see what stuck. Playing with friends helps too, because explaining why an answer is right makes it easier to remember.
